(This article discusses the nursing shortage found across the United States and focuses on the state of Pennsylvania’s decline in RNs. The article also examines whether nurses are an essential or discretionary need)

(This article examines how the nursing curriculum addresses diversity. The goal is to better prepare nursing students to be sensitive to cultural diversity in practice)

Maier-Lorentz, M. (2008). Transcultural nursing: Its importance in nursing practice. Journal of Cultural Diversity, 15(1), 37–43.
(This article discusses the need for nurses to be knowledgeable about many cultures to provide individualized care to diverse groups of patients. It also provides steps for nurses to gain cultural competence)
